WHY MAP IT?

projection vs. projection mapping

regular projection RECTANGLE / FAST / SIMPLE

Regular projection sends a rectangular frame of image or video onto a surface. It is a strong choice when the goal is speed, simplicity, presentation or a familiar screen-like format.

It works well for films, slideshows, logos, simple event loops, presentations and backdrops. The tradeoff is that the projector frame usually remains visible and the content does not respond to architectural edges, corners or objects.

projection mapping SURFACE / CUSTOM / LIVE

Projection mapping builds the visual around the exact surface, allowing the architecture, object or environment to become part of the image instead of simply holding a rectangle.

01Surface-specific

Map around windows, corners, objects, stages, canvases and architectural details.

02Live customization

Adjust color, scenes, placement and visual cues in real time as the event or installation changes.

03VJing + sound

Perform visuals live with DJs, music, movement or timed cues instead of relying on one fixed loop.

04More immersive

Light feels integrated into the environment, creating a stronger sense of scale, depth and transformation.

05Flexible systems

One visual system can adapt across multiple surfaces, scenes, events or content variations.

06Made for the space

The content responds to the actual site, giving the experience a custom-built finish instead of a screen-on-a-wall look.

PROJECT PROTOCOL / 03 STAGES

From idea to execution.

Every project is different. This is the basic field sequence.

01 Consultation DISCOVERY / SCOPE

A consultation is an in-depth working session around the idea, space, audience and goal. It is more than an email inquiry. We look at references, limitations, timing and what the experience needs to accomplish.

Consultations begin at $100 for one hour and are subject to change depending on project scope.

02 Site Visit / Mock-Up TEST / MEASURE / BUILD

Next we inspect the site or create a digital mock-up. This is where we test scale, throw distance, surfaces, lighting conditions, power, placement and the number of projectors or other technology needed.

The goal is to leave this stage with a clear technical plan and a visual direction that can be approved before execution.

03 Execution INSTALL / MAP / RUN

Execution is installation or event day. By this stage, the scope and creative direction are approved and the full project balance is paid. Equipment is loaded in, mapped, tested and run according to the approved plan.

Depending on the project, execution can also include on-site operation, live adjustments, strike and teardown.
